EL1 Assistant Director Strategic Pricing
The Opportunity
Are you a senior economist or policy professional who wants to make an impact on a national scale by reviewing and safeguarding economic frameworks? We are looking for an EL1 Assistant Director of Strategic Pricing to lead high-impact work and deliver economic research and analysis that supports evidence-based decision-making on complex pricing policy. This is a critical role within the Economics and Pricing Branch of the Markets Division.
The Details:
- Start: ASAP
- Contract: Until 31st December 2026 (possible extension)
- Location: Regional NSW; Newcastle, Charlestown, Gosford, Port Macquarie, Coffs
- Salary: $602.55/Daily (excluding super)
- Flexible Work: Hybrid work-from-home available
- Work Rights: Australian Citizenship is required
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Economic Research: Deliver evidence-based analysis to support decision-making on complex economic and pricing policy.
- Market Modelling: Apply statistical and economic modelling to large data sets to understand and improve the functioning of support markets.
- Policy Development: Develop robust pricing frameworks and lead the Annual Pricing Review to ensure price limits and market settings are strategic and fit for purpose.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Consult broadly with stakeholders, experts, and academics to fill information gaps, test new solutions, and build a shared understanding of priorities.
- Collaboration: Work with like minded individuals on a quest to address the unique challenges of the care economy and human services markets.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilise predictive tools to monitor provider behaviour and ensure pricing reforms are fit for purpose.
- Market Stewardship: Monitor provider behaviour and market performance to ensure pricing remains fair, transparent, and sustainable across the Scheme.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Academic Background: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Analytical Excellence: Superior problem-solving skills applied to complex quantitative and qualitative economic issues.
- Data Literacy: A quantitative mindset with the technical skill to handle large data sets and translate technical findings for diverse audiences.
- Sector Expertise: Proven experience addressing the economic challenges of the care economy or human services markets.
- Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative Drive: The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a high-performing team.
